LAKE WALES, Fla. — The Warner University men's volleyball team competed Tuesday evening with a competitive four-set battle but ultimately fell 3-1 to Edward Waters University (25-16, 20-25, 18-25, 20-25) inside the Turner Athletic Center.
The Royals came out firing in the opening set, controlling the tempo with efficient offense and steady defensive play. Warner capitalized on early momentum and closed the frame convincingly, 25-16, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Edward Waters responded in the second set, tightening up defensively and slowing the Royals' offensive rhythm. Despite Warner staying within striking distance, the Tigers claimed the set 25-20 to even the match. The visitors carried that momentum into the third and fourth sets, limiting extended runs by the Royals and securing the final two frames 25-18 and 25-20 to earn the road victory.
Darion Graham delivered a standout performance for Warner, recording a season-high 16 kills to lead all attackers in the match. Caleb Welling added 10 kills, giving the Royals a strong offensive presence on the pins.
Meric Akovali orchestrated the offense with a season-high 30 assists, helping Warner total 42 team kills on the night. Defensively, Kj Harrison anchored the back row with 10 digs as the Royals tallied 49 digs as a team in the four-set effort.
Despite the setback, Warner showed resilience and competitive grit as they continue to grow early in the 2026 campaign.
The Royals return to action Saturday, February 15, traveling to Miami Shores, Fla. to face University of Jamestown at 2 p.m. in a neutral-site contest hosted by Barry University.
