PREVIEW: Royals Set to Host ABAC and Thomas in Weekend Slate

2/12/2026 10:33:00 AM

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner University Softball returns to Daly Field this weekend riding early-season momentum as the Royals host Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) on Thursday, February 13 for a doubleheader, followed by another twin bill against Thomas University on Friday, February 14.

Warner opened the 2026 campaign in impressive fashion, going 4-0 during opening week with wins over the University of Fort Lauderdale and Bryan College. The undefeated start marks the program's best opening stretch since 2021 and has set the tone for what looks to be a driven and focused Royals squad.

Through four games, Warner has showcased balance on both sides of the ball. The Royals have been dominant behind the plate and sharp in the field, combining strategic playmaking with consistent offensive execution. Timely hitting, disciplined at-bats, and clean defensive performances have allowed Warner to control the tempo early and capitalize on key moments.

Thursday's matchup against ABAC will renew a young series between the two programs. The all-time series is tied 1-1, with the first-ever meeting taking place just last season. With limited history between the Royals and the Stallions, both programs will look to establish early control and gain the upper hand in the developing rivalry.

On Friday, Warner will welcome Thomas University for their 2026 season opener in a more familiar matchup. The Royals hold a 35-30 advantage in the all-time series against the Nighthawks, with the first meeting dating back to 2006. The history between these two programs has produced competitive contests over the years, and this weekend's doubleheader adds another chapter to a long-standing regional battle.

With confidence building and momentum on their side, the Royals aim to protect their home field and continue one of the program's strongest starts in recent memory. First pitch for both doubleheaders is set for Daly Field in Lake Wales, as Warner looks to stay undefeated and keep the early-season energy rolling.
