RECAP: Royals Open 2026 Campaign With Dominant Win Over Columbia College, 25-3

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The 2026 season could not have started in more dominant fashion for Warner Women's Lacrosse, as the Royals rolled to a commanding 25-3 victory over Columbia College on Friday, February 13 in Columbia, South Carolina.

From the opening draw, Warner set the tone. The Royals exploded for 10 goals in the first quarter while allowing just one, overwhelming the Koalas with relentless pace and precision. By halftime, Warner had built an 18-1 advantage, showcasing depth on both ends of the field. The Royals continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring Columbia 7-2 over the final two quarters to seal the 25-3 season-opening statement.

Offensively, the Royals were sharp and efficient, converting 25 goals on 38 shots with an impressive .842 shots-on-goal percentage. Ball movement and unselfish play fueled the attack, while the draw unit consistently gave Warner extra possessions to maintain momentum.

Vanessa Lynch led all scorers with five goals, while Anaya Lister added four. Makenna Day and E'Mya Miller each netted three goals in the victory. The night also marked a special milestone for several Royals, as Lauren Pukki, Ella McFadden, Makenna Day, Chelsey Schreck, and Morgan Van Auken each recorded their first collegiate goals; while Sophie Mato recorded her first collegiate win as the Royals goalie.

Abigail Petrillo and E'Mya Miller orchestrated the offense with three assists apiece, while Day filled the stat sheet with strong all-around play. Defensively, the Royals applied consistent pressure, forcing turnovers and limiting quality opportunities throughout the contest.

With a dominant road win to open the campaign, Warner now shifts its focus to its next challenge as the Royals travel to face Truett McConnell University on Saturday, February 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Cleveland, Georgia.
