AVE MARIA, Fla. - The Royals Baseball team took Game 4 in the SUN Conference Series against Ave Maria University on Saturday, winning the game 7-to-2. With Warner's win on Saturday the Royals were able to split the 4-game series to open up SUN Conference play at 2-2.
Warner wasted no time to get on the board scoring two runs in the 1st Inning as the Royals continued to cause chaos between the bases for AMU.
Jhenzel Figueroa led off for the Royals and drew a walk to put him on base, he later advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch before stealing 3rd. The Gyrenes catcher committed a throwing error attempting to throw out Figueroa at 3rd, allowing him to reach home for the first run of the game. The Royals continued to get runners on base and were able to get
Adriel Torres-Gonzalez home when
Samuel Blanco reached 1st on an error to take a 2-0 lead after 1.Â
Torres-Gonzalez had his best day at the plate as a Royal recording a season high 3 hits and 4 RBI's against the Gyrenes. The Junior drove in his first RBI of the day in the 3rd when he brought
Gabriel Rodriguez home off a double to left field, before driving in another run in the 7th when
JD Swarbrick scored on a groundout. In the 9th Inning, Torres-Gonzalez drove in two more insurance runs for the Royals on a 2 RBI single up the middle that saw Rodriguez and
Carlito Collins scoring the final runs of the game.Â
TImothy Dunn hit his 1st Home Run of the season in the 6th Inning, a solo shot to left field, to help propel the Royals to their 7-to-2 win over Ave Maria.
Paddy Smith also had a great game at the plate, tying his career high with 4 hits in Saturday's win.Â
The Royals had another dominant day on the mound as
Alexi Angelo got the start for Warner, pitching an efficient 5 scoreless Innings. The Senior allowed only 4 base runners on 3 hits and 1 walk on Saturday throwing only 58 pitches to earn his 1st Win of the season.
Dillon Grace had a great showing for the Royals out of the bullpen to earn his first Save of the year. Pitching 2.0 Innings and allowing only a single Gyrene to reach base, Grace only needed to throw 19 pitches to close out the win for the Royals.Â
Warner will look to keep building on these strong individual and team performances when they return home for a 5 game week next week.Â
