MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Royals traveled to Miami Gardens to take on #18 St. Thomas University for the 1st of a 3 game series to start their 2026 SUN Conference campaign on Friday. Warner fought hard against the #18 ranked Bobcats, but fell 4-to-1.
The Royals took an early lead against the Bobcats after
Alisha Wagoner got on base with a 2 out double to left field in the top of the 1st. Wagoner would score during the next at bat when the Bobcats pitcher dropped what would have been the 3rd out of the inning on a
Jillian Hudson pop fly. Warner held on to their 1 lead until STU tied the game in 4th Inning before taking the lead in the 5th on their way to taking game 1 of the series 4-to-1.Â
Elle Hernandez had a strong outing for the Royals pitching 4.2 Innings allowing only 5 hits and 1 earned run, while striking out 5 Bobcats in the first game of SUN Conference play.Â
Warner will look to bounce back on Saturday when the Royals wrap up the series with a double-header against STU.Â
