MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - The Royals wrapped up their first SUN Conference series of the season at #18 St. Thomas University in a Saturday double-header that saw the Bobcats taking both games by a score of 11-to-3 and 9-to-5.
Warner got on the board early on Saturday, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st Inning in game 1.
Jillian Hudson got the scoring started when she hit an RBI single through the left side of the infield that brought in
Diana Martin for the 1st run of the game.
Grace Derstine added another run to the Royals total when she hit an RBI single up the middle to bring home
April Dominguez before
Meagan Bruns hit her own RBI single to bring Hudson in to score their 3rd run of the Inning. Throughout the remainder of the game, the Bobcats steadily pulled away from the Royals and would go on to win 11-to-3 in 5 Innings.
Derstine picked up right where she left off in Game 2 of Saturday's SUN Conference double-header as she drove in 2 runs in the 1st Inning on a 2 RBI single to right field that scored
Alisha Wagoner and Dominguez to give the Royals an early 2-0 lead. The Bobcats answered back over the next few Innings to take a 4-to-2 lead into the 4th Inning. The Warner bats heated up again in the 5th Inning that culminated in an RBI single from Hudson to score Martin and a 2 RBI single from Bruns that scored Derstine and Hudson to give the Royals a 5-to-4 lead. Unfortunately for the Royals, St. Thomas would pull away over the next 2 Innings to take a 9-to-5 win in game 2.
The Royals will look to bounce back next week when they host 3 programs for 6 games at home before restarting Conference play on March 12th.
