RECAP: Royals Open AAC Play With Road Sweep Against Webber International

Babson Park, Fla. — Warner University men's volleyball opened Appalachian Athletic Conference play in commanding fashion Thursday night, earning a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-17, 25-21) over Webber International University in Babson Park.

Set 1:
Warner set the tone immediately in the opening frame, fueled by a dominant start from Darion Graham. Graham rattled off three consecutive service aces early, helping the Royals jump out in front and seize momentum. Warner controlled the net defensively, recording seven blocks in the set while adding seven kills to cruise to a 25-17 victory.

Set 2:
The Royals carried their momentum into the second set, posting 11 kills, two blocks, and two service aces. Webber briefly found a rhythm and recorded the match's first lead change, but Warner stayed composed and capitalized on Warrior unforced errors down the stretch. The Royals regained control and closed out another 25-17 set to take a 2-0 advantage.

Set 3:
Webber opened the third set aggressively, handing Warner an early 7-3 deficit as the Warriors appeared to find their groove. Without hesitation, the Royals responded with poise and firepower. Warner answered with four service aces, 11 kills, and three blocks in the set, erasing the deficit and pulling away late to secure the sweep and their first AAC win of the 2026 campaign.

Graham led all players with eight kills and a match-high six service aces, while Warner's front line was a difference-maker throughout the night, totaling 12 blocks. Meric Akovali guided the offense with 15 assists and added seven digs, contributing on both sides of the ball.

The victory marks Warner's first sweep and conference win of the season as the Royals begin AAC play with momentum.

Warner returns to action Saturday, February 7, traveling to Miami Gardens, Fla. to face Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent St. Thomas University at 2 p.m.
