LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Royals split Friday's doubleheader against another strong opponent in Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College who received votes to be ranked in the NAIA's preseason Top 25 coaches poll. The day was highlighted by
Horiam Santiago's walk off single in the bottom of the 7th to win the 7 Inning game 1 by a score of 5-4.
Game 1: Royals Win 5-4
The Royals and Stallions traded blows in the 1st game, with ABAC scoring 3 in the top of the 1st while the Royals responded quickly scoring two runs of their own in the bottom of the Inning.
Gabriel Rodriguez hit an RBI Double to drive in
Paddy Smith and Jacob Gumeiny drove in Rodriguez on an RBI Single up the middle on his 1st at bat as a Royal. Warner would tack on 2 more runs in the 2nd and 4th Inning to take a 4-3 lead over the Stallions. Smith drove in Santiago on an RBI single in the 2nd and the Royals were able to take advantage of a throwing Error by the Stallions in the 4th to take the lead. (RV) ABAC would respond with a solo home run to tie the game in the 6th. The Royals put together a string of strong at-bats with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th that culminated with
Horiam Santiago's walk-off RBI Single with the bases loaded to drive in Rodriguez to take game 1.
Warner also saw two solid pitching performances by
Harper McLendon and Easton NUnez. McLendon threw 5.0 Innings and allowed only 3 hits while recording only 2 earned runs. The Graduate also struck out 5 Stallions in Friday's outing. Nunez earned his 2nd win of his young collegiate career on Friday pitching 2.0 Innings to close out the game allowing only 1 run on 1 hit, while adding 2 K's to his stat line.

Game 2: Royals Fall 11-4
Despite Warner finding themselves with a 3-2 lead after the 2nd Inning, the Royals bats were unable to keep up the bats of (RV) ACAB and would fall by a final score of 11-to-4. The Royals offense in the 2nd Inning came off the aggressive base running of
Timothy Dunn as he would take advantage of a wild pitch in the 2nd as well as from the bat of
Paddy Smith who hit a 2 RBI single to center field driving in Santiago and
Carlito Collins. Warner would add 1 more run in the 6th when
Manny Santana scored on a
Max Berland RBI ground out.Â
On the mound
Evan Christ had a strong showing in Friday night's 2nd game. Christ threw 3.0 Innings, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 3 of the total 13 batters he faced.
