RECAP: Danny Garcia Hits His 1st HR of the Year as Royals Wrap-up Series Against #8 Southeastern

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Royals wrapped up their SUN Conference series with #8 Southeastern University on Friday and Saturday playing the 3rd and 4th games of the series. Despite taking an early lead in game 3 the Royals were unable to quiet the Fire offense and would fall 11-5. The Fire got the best of the Royals in the final game of the series to take the SUN Conference series 3 games to 1.

Warner got on the board first in game 3 when Graduate Student Danny Garcia recorded his first home run as a Royal, blasting a solo home run to deep right center to give the Royals an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd. The Fire answered back with a run of their own in the 3rd to tie the game before Paddy Smith hit a bases clearing double to give the Royals a 4-to-1 lead that scored Raul Olivera, Danny Garcia and Adriel Torres-Gonzalez in the top of the 4th. SEU would then go on to take the lead in the bottom of the 4th and slowly pull away from the Royals over the next few Innings. Horiam Santiago would score the Royals final run of the game taking advantage of an SEU error to give Warner their 5th run of game 3. Daniel Nava had a strong outing for the Royals on the mound, throwing 2.0 Innings without allowing a run and striking out 2 Fire batters on Friday.

After a quiet first few Innings for the Royals offense in game 4, JD Swarbrick drove in the first run of the game for Warner on an RBI single to left field that scored Ethan Pues. Danny Garcia followed that up with a 2 RBI double into center field that drove in Evan Ledoux and Gabriel Rodriguez to get the Royals 3 runs in the top of the 5th Inning. Paddy Smith would drive in the Royals final run of the game in the 7th Inning when he hit an RBI single to right center field to bring Garrett Gregory home.

Warner will look to bounce back next weekend when they head to #17 St. Thomas University for another 4 game SUN Conference Series.
