LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner Women's Lacrosse returned home to the Tye Athletic Field on Monday, March 2nd, hosting Adrian College in Lake Wales, Florida. Despite a resilient effort and strong individual performances, the Royals fell by a final score of 20-6.
Adrian established momentum early, but the Royals continued to compete throughout all four quarters. Warner showed defensive grit and composure in transition, highlighted by strong ground ball play and forced turnovers that created opportunities on the offensive end.
Morgan Van Auken led the Royals' attack with a hat trick, accounting for half of the team's scoring on the evening. Vanessa Lynch and Haylee Woodhouse each added an assist, helping facilitate Warner's offensive movement. The Royals capitalized on quality opportunities, finishing with a solid .667% shots-on-goal percentage.
Defensively, Anna Penswick delivered a standout performance with five ground balls, while Woodhouse added four. Warner controlled possession battles effectively, collecting 25 ground balls as a team. Sophie Mato, Makenna Day, Abigail Petrillo, and Penswick each recorded a caused turnover, reflecting the Royals' active defensive pressure.
Warner will look to regroup quickly as they remain at home for their next contest, welcoming Tennessee Wesleyan University on Wednesday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tye Athletic Field.
