LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Royals were in search of their 2nd SUN Conference series win on Saturday when they hosted Florida Memorial University on Saturday. Warner battled with the Lions in a tightly contested series, but FMU got the edge in game 4 to take an 8-to-3 win to split the series.
Gabriel Rodriguez had an impressive day at the plate for the Royals on Saturday going 2-4 with a walk and scored all 3 of Warner's runs. Rodriguez's 2nd hit of the day marked his team leading 40th hit of the season. The Royals 1st run of the game was manufactured by the aggressive base-running by Rodriguez stealing both 2nd and 3rd before forcing a throwing error by the catcher to get him home safely in the 1st Inning. Warner scored their 2nd run during the 3rd Inning on a
Jhenzel Figueroa RBI to score Rodriguez.
JD Swarbrick got Rodriguez home in the 5th on sacrifice fly to center field to give the Royals their 3rd run of the game. FMU jumped out to early lead in the 2nd Inning and were able to prevent the Royals from creating any big rallies to take an 8-to-3 win.
The Royals will look to bounce back next week when they take a break from SUN Conference play for a road series against the University of Fort Lauderdale.
