Royals Fight in Tight Matches Against Conference Opponents

Lakeland, Fl. – March 28, 2026 – The Warner University beach volleyball team held their second home match at Santa Fe Catholic School in Lakeland. The Royals battled against two strong conference teams and fell short.

 

March 28 – Webber 3, Warner 2 

  • Pair 1: Cooley/Fassnacht (WU) def. Flom/Gomez (WIU) – 21-11, 21-8
  • Pair 2: Baxter/Hunt (WIU) def. Dumont/Anderson (WU) – 21-12, 21-13
  • Pair 3: McDermott/Amer (WU) def. Canico/Marks-Craig (WIU)  – 21-18, 21-17
  • Pair 4: Andrews/Mull (WIU) def. Laboy/De Jesus (WU) – 21-16, 16-21, 15-10
  • Pair 5: Adams/Leonard (WIU) def. Coggins/Gibson (WU) – 21-18, 21-16

Match Recap:

While the Royals didn't secure the overall win, each game consisted of determination and competitive spirits. Pair 1, Leah Cooley and Ashlyn Fassnach, dominated their match in two straight sets over WIU (21-11, 21-8). Skye McDermott and Antonia Amer secured the Royals with a second win as Pair 3 (21-18, 21-17). Pair 4, Imar Laboy and Julia De Jesus battled in a three set match but fell short 21-16, 16-21, 15-10.

  • Pair 1: Casey/Fenstermaker (NCF) def. Cooley/Fassnacht (WU) – 22-20, 19-21, 15-12
  • Pair 2: Gentry/Ponsford (NCF) def. McDermott/Amer (WU) – 18-21, 21-9, 15-12
  • Pair 3: Romanos Garcia/Santiago (NCF) def. Dumont/Anderson – 21-11, 21-17
  • Pair 4: Crossman/Coggins (WU) def. Deem/Dias (NCF) – 21-10, 21-13
  • Pair 5: Saba/Vaerini (NCF) def. Laboy/De Jesus (WU) – 21-16, 21-19

Match Recap:

In the second match of the day, the Royals gave it their all in every pair. Pair 4, Lydia Coggins and Reese Crossman, controlled and won their match against NCF 21-10, 21-13 securing the only win for the Royals. Both Pair 1 and 4, showed their skills and desire to compete for every point in their three set matches. Though both fell 15-12 in set three, the pairs battled till the end against NCF.

 

Up Next:
