LAKE WALES, Fla. - Royals Softball swept Friday's double-header against the Crimson Wave of Calumet College of St. Joseph to return the Royals to an above .500 record.
Alisha Wagoner highlighted the day for Warner with her game 1 walk-off double to give the Royals a 2-1 win before the Royals took game 2 by a score of 7-4.
Game 1: Royals Win 2-1
The first game of Friday's double-header between the Royals and Crimson Wave was a true pitcher's duel as both program's starters gave their opposing hitters very little to opportunities to drive in runs. The Crimson Wave got on the board first scoring in the 2nd Inning to take a 1-0 lead and were able to fend off the the Royals until the 5th Inning when the Royals took advantage of an error by Calumet.
Diana Martin was able to reach base on an error that allowed
Autumn Calcagno to score tying the game at 1 entering the final Innings of the game. Both pitchers shut down the opposing offenses in the 6th to keep the game tied entering the final Inning of play. After preventing the Crimson Wave from scoring in the top of the 7th, Calcagno hit a 1 out single to put the winning run on base for
Alisha Wagoner. Wagoner stepped up to meet the moment and hit a walk-off RBI double to win the game for the Royals. In the circle, Royals starter
Elle Hernandez went the distance for Warner, pitching all 7 Innings against the Crimson Wave and allowed only 1 run on 5 hits and struck out 7 in the win.
