RECAP: Royals Drive in 11 Runs in Win Over (RV) Keiser University

LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Royals returned to SUN Conference play with a statement win over (RV) Keiser University. Warner's offense exploded for 7 runs in the opening Inning on Thursday and never looked back on their way to a 11-to-5 win over the Seahawks.

The Seahawks struck first in Thursday night's game taking an early 1-0 lead in the top half of the 1st Inning, but the Seahawks lead would be short lived as the Royals offense sent 12 batters to the plate and scored 7 in the bottom of the Inning. Gabriel Rodriguez scored the Royals 1st run of the game when Jhenzel Figueroa reached on a fielding error. Danny Garcia's aggressive baserunning led to him taking advantage of a throwing error by the pitcher on a sacrifice attempt by JD Swarbrick for Warner's 2nd run of the game. Evan Ledoux and Timothy Dunn then hit back-to-back 2 RBI doubles to Right Field that scored Swarbrick, Figueroa, Ledoux and Adriel Torres-Gonzalez Samuel Blanco drove in Timothy Dunn on an RBI single to Right Field to give Warner a 7-to-1 lead after the 1st. Danny Garcia drove in Dunn on an RBI single of his own in the 3rd Inning to bring the Royals lead to 7 after the opening 3 Innings of Thursday's game.

(RV) Keiser chipped away at the Royals lead in the 5th and 6th Innings and would cut Warner's lead down to 3 runs entering the bottom of the 6th. Warner answered back in the 6th and 7th Innings when Paddy Smith hit a RBI single to Center to score Jacob Gumieny. Garrett Gregory followed that up with a 2 RBI double to Right-Center Field in the 7th that scored Carlito Collins and Figueroa to give the Royals an 11-to-5 lead entering the final Innings of the game.

Warner's pitching staff was dominant in Game 1 of the series as 6 different Royals took the mound in the win. Austin Vakiener had a strong outing after beign called upon to start for the Royals allowing only 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 1 in 3.0 Innings pitched. Aidan Murphy threw 1.1 Innings out of the bullpen and allowed only 1 run on 1 hit and struck out a team high 3 Seahawks. Evan Christ, Harper Mclendon and Alexi Angelo shut down the high powered Seahawks offense combining to strike out 4 batters without allowing a hit to close out the win for the Royals. Warner's final stat line was 11 runs on 14 hits, 5 of which were doubles, with 2 stolen bases and only 1 error in Thursday's win.

Warner will look to build upon their strong overall performance tomorrow when they continue their SUN Conference Series with (RV) Keiser University.
