LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner Women's Lacrosse faced one of the top teams in the NAIA on Thursday, April 16, hosting No. 5 Keiser University at the Tye Athletic Field in Lake Wales, Florida. Despite a 20-2 final, the Royals showed determination against elite competition while celebrating a major individual milestone.
Freshman goalkeeper Sophie Mato highlighted the evening with a career achievement, surpassing 100 career saves, a testament to her consistency and impact in net throughout the season. Mato finished with a team-high 10 saves in the contest, anchoring the Royals' defensive effort against a high-powered Seahawk attack.
Warner struck early, with E'Mya Miller opening the scoring in the first quarter off an assist from Morgan Van Auken. Ella McFadden later added the Royals' second goal in the second quarter, finishing a feed from Anaya Lister.
Defensively, the Royals remained active despite the pressure, forcing turnovers and battling for possession throughout the game. Vanessa Lynch led the way with two caused turnovers, while multiple Royals contributed on the ground ball effort.
The Royals will return to SUN Conference action, Saturday, April 18th at 1pm to host the Bobcats of St. Thomas University at the Tye Athletic Field.
