LAKE WALES, Fla. — Warner University Athletics is proud to announce the addition of Nick Combs to the Royals Men's Basketball coaching staff as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2026–27 season.
Combs returns to Warner as a driven and versatile leader, bringing a well-rounded background in player development, operations, and program management. A Winter Haven native with strong ties to the Royals, he has steadily built a reputation for his work ethic, basketball IQ, and commitment to student-athlete success both on and off the court.
"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Nick back on staff!" said Head Coach Matt Warren. "He did an excellent job this year working in athletic administration and really grew as a leader. He also was an assistant at Auburndale High and learned a ton from their veteran staff. It is very exciting to have him back with his familiarity with myself and our program!"
During the 2025–26 season, Combs served as Warner's Game Operations Director and Camps & Events Coordinator, while also contributing within the Athletic Director's office. In these roles, he expanded his impact across the department, supporting internal operations and enhancing external engagement.
In the 2024–25 season, Combs served as an Assistant Coach for the Royals while also leading the Developmental Team as Head Coach. He played an integral role in scouting, film breakdown, operations, and player development. Under his leadership, three developmental players earned promotions to the varsity roster, highlighting his ability to identify and cultivate talent.
Combs rejoined Warner in the fall of 2023 as an Assistant Coach under then-Head Coach Sean Hanrahan. During that season, he contributed to scouting, player development, and daily operations, helping reinforce the program's culture and success. His impact led to his retention when Warren assumed head coaching duties in the summer of 2024.
Prior to returning to Warner, Combs gained valuable experience at Oasis Christian Academy, where he began as a Middle School Assistant Coach before being promoted to Middle School Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach. In that role, he developed his leadership skills and continued to grow in player development and program building under the mentorship of Chad Jones.
"I am truly grateful and excited to be back on staff as the lead assistant at Warner University," said Combs. "I would like to thank Athletic Director Sean Hanrahan & Coach Warren for this opportunity as I look forward to working with a special group of young men. God Bless, Go Royals!"
A native of Winter Haven, Combs began his collegiate career as a Student Manager at Warner University during the 2020–21 season, contributing to a Royals team that captured the Sun Conference Regular Season Championship.
Combs is the proud son of Danny and Ann Marie Combs and brother to Matthew Combs.
