RECAP: Royals Season Ends in the Final Four of The Sun Conference Tournament

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Royals Softball season came to end on Friday on Day 2 of The Sun Conference Tournament against the #3 seeded College of Coastal Georgia. After winning their 1st Sun Conference Tournament game since 2023 earlier on Friday, the Royals fell to the Mariners in the team's 3rd game of the tournament by a final score of 10-to-1.

Warner's lone run of the game came during the 4th Inning when Lauren Fernald scored on an RBI single up the middle of the infield. Wagoner's RBI in today's matchup brought her season total of RBI's up to a team leading 22 and ended her season with an 8 game hitting streak, which tied her for the longest hitting streak on the team at 8 games. Elle Hernandez threw 4.2 Innings in the circle for Warner and struck out 3, which brought her season strikeout total to 66. The Royals were unable to find anymore runs and would finish the game with a stat line of 1 run on 5 hits and 1 error.

The Royals finished their 2026 season with an 18-23 overall record while going 8-16 in Sun Conference play which was enough to earn a Sun Conferecence Tournament bid as the 6th seed. Warner finished strong to end their regular season winning 5 of the last 8 games which included going 4-2 against Sun Conference opponents to help secure that final spot in the Conference Tournament and were a final four finisher in the Tournament. The Royals tallied 6 series wins over the course of the season which included 4 series sweeps against Florida Memorial University, Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.), Bryan College and University of Fort Lauderdale.

The future looks bright for Warner Softball after earning their 1st Conference Tournament win since 2023, the team will grow from this year's experience as well as from the mentorship that came from the team's graduating Seniors. The program has a lot to be excited about for next season as the team looks forward to bringing in the 2027 class of Freshman and Transfers to continue their growth both on and off the field.
