Nolan Davenport was born in Gainesville, Georgia, but was raised in Southeastern Coastal Georgia. From a young age, he developed a deep love for baseball and honed his skills under the guidance of Clay Daniel, a former pro-scout for the Reds, Diamondbacks, and Angels. Nolan attended Camden County High School, where he played for the Wildcats in 2016, 2017, and 2019. In 2018, he also attended Flowery Branch High School, playing as a second baseman and outfielder. That year, the Flowery Branch Falcons made a deep run to the Final Four of the Class 5A state championship.
After high school, Nolan earned a scholarship to Erskine College in South Carolina, where his recruiting class was ranked #1 in Division II baseball in 2019. From 2019 to 2021, Nolan played as a two-way player under Coach Mark Crocco, Jr.
Nolan transferred to Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2022 as a pitcher. Under the guidance of Coach Reginald Johnson II, he contributed to two winning seasons (28-27 in 2022 and 26-24 in 2023). During his time at Edward Waters, Nolan was part of the team that clinched the 2022 HBCU World Series title, marking the second championship in the program’s history. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and went on to earn a Master’s in Business Administration.
After his playing career, Nolan joined Tread Athletics in Charlotte, North Carolina (May 2023–May 2024), working alongside professional pitchers and coaches to further hone his skills and knowledge of the game. He then transitioned to coaching as the Assistant Coach for the Cape Catfish in the Prospect League, located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Working closely with Field Manager Phillip Butler and General Manager Mark Hogan, Nolan contributed to both the pitching and hitting programs while also serving as the team’s third base coach. Under his guidance, the Catfish finished the season 31-25 and earned a playoff spot. The team posted an impressive 4.27 ERA and a WHIP of 1.38, both of which ranked first in the league. Additionally, the team stole 153 bases, which ranked 3rd in the league. The team’s other statistics included: 24 home runs, slugging .361, and .258 batting average.
In the summer of 2024, Nolan was hired as an Assistant Coach for Warner Royals baseball. As of January 2025, he was promoted to Lead Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Nolan credits his growth as a coach and Christian leader to the mentorship of Coach Rich Benjamin and Captain Christopher Bohner, USN. He is passionate about the upcoming season and is excited to continue helping develop the Warner Royals baseball team into not only high-level athletes, but also strong Christian leaders and young men of character. Nolan lives by the words of Psalms 23:4: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me: your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
