Royals Route Cougars for Third Straight Win 101-45



CLEARWATER, Fla. – Five players scored in double figures as Warner University men's basketball team crushed Clearwater Christian College 101-45 on Tuesday evening.  The Royals improve to 3-0 in the 2014-15 season while the Cougars drop their season opener and are now 0-1.

The Royals started off hot on both sides of the court in the first half.  Five minutes into the game the Royals led 15-4 and had three blocks on defense.  Bladimyr Santiago had the hot hand early for the Royals with nine points in the first seven minutes of the game.

The Royals shot 42.9% from behind the arc in the first half and had five 3-point field goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.  The inside game was also clicking for the Royals as they totaled 28 points in the paint in the half. 

Warren Hall led all players with 15 points at the break with the Royals leading 49-18.  Santiago finished his hot first half with 13 points.

The Royals defense stymied the Cougars at the start of the second half holding them to 0-of-9 shooting from the field over the first six minutes.  The Cougars got a three-pointer at the 13:22 mark to break their scoring drought and a 10-1 run by the Royals.

Offensively, the Royals got hotter in the second half shooting 61.3% from the field and 58.3% from behind the arc.  At the 5:18 mark the Cougars called a timeout with the Royals on top 86-39.  In the end the Royals were too much to handle coming away with the 101-45 victory.  It is the first 100-point game for the Royals since the 2012-13 season.

The Royals finished the game with at least 10 scorers for the third straight game to open the season.  All 12 players that saw action in the game played over 10 minutes each as well.  Warren Hall led all players with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting all in 14 minutes of action.  In all, five players scored in double figures for the Royals.  Bladimyr Santiago followed Hall with 17 points and nine rebounds.  Eddie Delegal finished with 16 points and rebounds as well.

Antonio Ansley was on fire for the Royals scoring 14 points in 13 minutes on 5-of-5 shooting.  Jason Pospichal had four of Warner's 13 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. 

The Royals dominated around the rim outrebounding the Cougars 48-26 and outscoring them in the paint 44-6.  Devyn Baranauskas led the defense with four steals while AJ Lamb had three blocked shots as well. 

Next up for the Royals is a road trip to Hialeah, Fla. to take on Florida National University.  The Conquistadors, in their second year as a varsity program, will welcome the Royals for a 6 p.m. tip-off in the Bucky Dent Gymnasium.
