Women's Volleyball Swept By Embry-Riddle 3-0

LAKE WALES, Fla. - In their second Sun Conference volleyball match of the week, Warner University lost 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-19) to Embry-Riddle University on Saturday afternoon in the Turner Athletic Center.  The loss drops the Lady Royals to 4-8 on the season and moves their league record to 3-2.  The Eagles are now 5-1 in conference play and are 8-6 overall.

The Lady Royals never led in the first set falling behind 1-0.  Adrienne Czaplewski and Nicole Wittmer each had two kills in the opening set.  Wittmer recorded the first kill of the second set giving Warner their first lead of the match but the Eagles combined to hit .297 as a team en route to their 25-20 second set victory.

In the third set, the Lady Royals led by as many as three before a 6-0 run by the Eagles gave them a 13-9 advantage.  The Lady Royals clawed their way back four times in the set forcing tie scores but could not overtake the Eagles eventually falling 25-19.

On a tough offensive afternoon for the Lady Royals, Nicole Wittmer, Marisa Moralobo and Tiffani Pate all finished with a team high six kills in the match.  Pate led the team with a .600 hitting percentage committing zero errors in 10 attempts.

Adrienne Czaplewski and Heather Lockwood both finished with 10 digs.  Moralobo added nine of her own and was perfect on the day passing the ball in 21 attempts.

Next week the Lady Royals travel to Ave Maria University on Tuesday, Sept. 30, for their next Sun Conference match up.  The Gyrenes will welcome the Lady Royals for a 7 p.m. match in the Tom Golisano Field House.
