Wildcats Use Big Second Half to Down Royals 66-56

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Warner University men's basketball team lost on the road to Johnson & Wales University 66-56 on Tuesday night.  The loss is the second straight Sun Conference defeat for the Royals who dropped to No. 26 earlier Tuesday in the latest edition of the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.  Overall the Royals are now 12-4 on the season and 2-4 in league play.  The Wildcats improve to 13-4 overall and are now in a tie for second place in the league standings at 5-2.

It was a tale of two halves for the Royals who held a 32-26 lead at halftime only to be outscored 40-24 in the second half.  The Wildcats erased their six point halftime deficit with a 10-2 run to start the second half and were off and running.

A three pointer at the 13:49 mark gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game, 39-38.  From there, the Royals trailed the rest of the way and faced their first double-digit deficit at the 3:03 mark.

Eddie Delegal led the team with 14 points and six rebounds.  Warren Hall followed with 11 points and six rebounds.  Josh Ellis also reached double figures with 10 points.

On Thursday, Jan. 22, the Royals keep to the road for their next Sun Conference showdown with Ave Maria University.  The action starts at 5:30 p.m. with the Lady Royals match up with the Gyrenes.  The men's game will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.
