LAKE WALES, Fla. - Clutch shots, good defense and a grind-it-out mentality gave Warner University men's basketball team an 83-81 overtime victory against St. Thomas University on Saturday evening. Led by
Warren Hall's 33 points, the Royals picked up their 14
th win of the season (14-4) and their fourth in Sun Conference play (4-4). The Bobcats drop to .500 (9-9) with the loss and are 4-5 in league play.
Both teams exchanged buckets in the final seconds of regulation to send the game to an extra five minutes. In the overtime period the Royals outscored the Bobcats 13-11 and got two big three pointers from
Keevis Tukes and
Antonio Ansley.
Hall led all players with a season-high 33 points. The sophomore was 13-of-19 from the floor and was perfect from the free throw line (5-for-5). Three other players scored in double figures for the Royals.
Antonio Ansley scored 15 off the bench while
Keevis Tukes finished with 12 points and
Eddie Delegal had 11.
Next week features two rivalry games for the Royals. First on Wednesday, Jan. 28, Webber International University comes across Crooked Lake for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. Then on Saturday, Jan. 31, Southeastern University comes across the county for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
