Lions Trip Up Lady Royals on Senior Night 3-1

LAKE WALES, Fla. – On senior night, Warner University women's soccer team lost to Florida Memorial University 3-1 on Saturday night.  The Lady Royals drop to 4-6 on the season and are now 1-6 Sun Conference play.  The Lions improve to 2-10 with the win and are now 1-6 in league play.

The Lady Royals held a 7-5 shot advantage in the first half but it was the Lions who scored first in just the second minute of the game.  The Lady Royals regrouped and scored the equalizer in the 18th minute when Jamie Murray and Kristen Isabelle got together.  For Isabelle, it was her third goal of the season while Murray collected her fourth assist.

The Lions were able to squeeze in a goal just before halftime and carried a 2-1 lead into the break.

Coming out of halftime, the Lions found the back of the early again scoring in the 47th minute to extend their lead to 3-1.  The Lady Royals picked up their attacking pressure with an 8-1 shot advantage in the second half but to no avail as they went scoreless in the final 45 minutes.

Sarah Bergkvist made three saves in the game playing all 90 minutes in goal for Warner.

Senior Maria Diaz led the Lady Royals with four shots including three on goal.  Murray followed with three shots of her own.

Prior to the match, head coach George Arroyo and the Lady Royals recognized the careers and contributions of four senior student-athletes.  Ashley Casanas, Maria Diaz, Naybet Febo and Jamie Murray were all honored in a short ceremony.

The Lady Royals will now play out their remaining 2015 schedule on the road beginning next Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Lakeland, Fla. against Southeastern University.  The two teams will kick-off at  5 p.m.
