Winning Streak Now at 9 for Women's Volleyball After Weekend Sweep

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Warner University stands alone at the top of The Sun Conference women's volleyball standings after a 2-0 weekend in Miami.  The Lady Royals swept Florida Memorial University on Friday night 3-0 then defeated St. Thomas University 3-1 on Saturday to improve to 7-0 in league play.  The Lady Royals have now won nine matches in a row dating back to Sept. 4 and are 12-4 overall.

On Friday night the Lady Royals swept their fourth straight conference match defeating Florida Memorial 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-14).

Breeanna Navarro got her weekend off to a great start with 14 kills against the Lions.  Adrienne Czaplewski had eight kills and two service aces as well. 

Navarro led the Lady Royals at the net with three total blocks.  Thalia Mendez led all players with 11 digs in the match.

Less than 24 hours later the Lady Royals were back in action at the Fernandez Family Center taking on St. Thomas University in a showdown for the top spot in the conference. 

The Bobcats entered the match with a perfect 5-0 record and are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' top 25 poll.

The Lady Royals jumped out to 1-0 lead after an impressive first set winning 25-18.  The Lady Royals hit .320 as a team in the first set as well.  After dropping the second set 28-26, the Lady Royals bounced back winning the third and fourth sets with 29 combined kills.  The fourth set was the best of the day for the Lady Royals as they posted a .355 hitting percentage.

Adrienne Czaplewski led all players with 18 kills on the day.  Breeanna Navarro followed with 13 kills and led the defensive effort with 4.5 total blocks.  Angie Pagan-Perez also reached double digit kills with 10 in the match.

Jenna Swaffer reached the 40-assist plateau for the third time this season finishing with 41 against the Bobcats.  She also picked up 15 digs and three kills.

Libero Thalia Mendez led all players with 21 digs on the back row Warner. Pagan-Perez and Cat Lind both finished with nine digs.

The Lady Royals return to the Turner Athletic Center next Saturday afternoon, Oct. 24, for a rematch with Keiser University at 2 p.m.  The Lady Royals won the first meeting 3-1 back on Sept. 25.
