TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – In their final non-conference match of the season, Warner University women's soccer team defeated Florida College 2-0 on Monday night. The Lady Royals had goals by
Tiffany Methot and
Jamie Murray to improve their 2015 record to 6-7. The Falcons are now 5-7-1 following the loss.
It did not take long for Warner to get on the scoreboard against the Falcons.
Tiffany Methot scored her first goal of the season in just the second minute of action. Murray and
Naybet Febo assisted on the play putting the Lady Royals out in front 1-0.
In the 20
th minute, Murray scored for the 17
th time this season extending the Warner lead to 2-0. Febo was also in the mix again picking up her team-best eighth assist.
The Lady Royals dominated the first half outshooting the Falcons 10-2. Goalkeeper
Sarah Bergkvist made one save in the first 45 minutes as well.
The second half went scoreless with neither team scoring a goal. The Lady Royals outshot the Falcons 7-3 in the half and Bergkvist made two saves to preserve Warner's third road victory of the season. The 2-0 shutout is the first of the year for the Lady Royals.
Maria Diaz led a 17-shot attack by Warner with four on the night. Murray was second on the team with three while five players had two shots each.
The regular season finale for the Lady Royals has been moved and will now be on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. against Webber International University in Babson Park, Fla.
