Women's Basketball Rolls to Season-Opening Victory Over Trinity Baptist

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On the road for their 2015-16 season opener, Warner University women's basketball team defeated Trinity Baptist College 90-67 on Saturday night.  It is the fourth straight year the Lady Royals have won their season opener.

The 90 points scored are the most the Lady Royals have scored in a game since Nov. 13, 2013 against Point University (Ga.).  The Lady Royals defeated the Skyhawks then 94-62.

On a big offensive night for the Lady Royals, senior Mariah Williams led all players with 20 points.  Newcomer Kaley Schmick came off the bench to score 19 points.

Isis Mance finished with 13 points and eight rebounds in her Warner debut.  Porsche Shakes also reached double-digits scoring 10 points.

As a team, the Lady Royals were on fire from behind the arc, connecting on 7-of-11 three pointers.  They also shot 53% from the field in the game.

The Lady Royals return home on Monday, Nov. 2, for their home opener against Xavier University of Louisiana.  The Nuggets are ranked 21st in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 poll and enter Monday's contest 1-0 on the season.
