Lady Royals Fall to Southern Wesleyan in South Region Final

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – In the finale of the 2015 NCCAA South Region Women's Volleyball Tournament, Southern Wesleyan University (S.C.) defeated Warner University 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-16) to advance to the NCCAA National Championship.  The Lady Royals will also advance to the finals in Kissimmee, Fla. as the host of the 2015 tournament.  Saturday's loss was just the second since early September for the Lady Royals squad and drops their overall record to 19-6.  The NCAA-II Warriors improve to 20-6 with the win as well.

The first set featured eight tie scores and seven lead changes as both sides tried for an early edge.  The Lady Royals led by as many as five mid-way through the set but saw their lead disappear after a 7-0 run by the Warriors.  The Lady Royals rallied late to tie the game at 20-20 and took the lead 21-20 on a kill by Ivelisse Saint-Clair.

The Warriors, however, had the final rally of the set scoring five of the final six points to win the opening set 25-22.

From there the Warriors took control of match and won the next two sets.  The Lady Royals held leads briefly at the beginning of both sets but could not overtake the Warriors falling in straight sets 3-0.

After racking up 21 kills in the semifinal match on Friday night, Angie Pagan-Perez totaled 13 on Saturday to go along with 12 digs.  Breeanna Navarro also had 13 digs and hit .444 in three sets.

Adrienne Czaplewski finished with eight kills and matched Pagan-Perez with 12 digs.  Jenna Swaffer led the offense with 33 assists.  She also added five digs.

The NCCAA National Championship gets underway Dec. 3-5 at the Kissimmee Civic Center in Kissimmee, Fla.  Check back with www.warnerroyals.com for more information as it becomes available.
