Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Day one of the 2015 NCCAA Division I Women's Volleyball National Championship is in the books and Warner University is 0-2 in pool play after the first day of action. The fifth-seeded Lady Royals lost their tournament opener to fourth-seeded Oklahoma Baptist University 3-2 then lost to top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University 3-0. The Lady Royals are now 19-8 on the season with the final day of pool play coming up on Friday, Dec. 4.
In their first game of the day, the Lady Royals got off to a great start winning the first two sets over Oklahoma Baptist.
Breeanna Navarro and
Adrienne Czaplewski had 19 of Warner's 31 kills through the first two sets.
The Lady Bison, however, came to life in the third set and never looked back winning the final three sets and the match 3-2 (25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 13-25, 7-15). Navarro finished with a game-high 16 kills and was the Lady Royals leading hitter with a .316 hitting percentage. Czaplewski followed with 15 kills and 17 digs.
Thalia Mendez led the team with 19 digs and
Jenna Swaffer had 40 assists.
In their second match of the day, the Lady Royals were swept by the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan 3-0 (18-25, 15-25, 11-25). Czaplewski led the team with six kills. Mendez had 20 digs and Swaffer had 20 assists in the loss.
On Friday, Dec. 4, the Lady Royals close out pool play and the 2015 season with a 12 p.m. match against eighth seeded Lincoln Christian University (Ill.).
