Tigers Upset No. 25 Royals 45-44

LAKE WALES, Fla. – On a tough offensive night, Edward Waters College scored the go ahead basket with six seconds left to upset No. 25 Warner University men's basketball team 45-44 on Saturday night in the Turner Athletic Center.  The Royals could not convert in their final possession dropping their record to 2-1 on the season.

Warren Hall returned to the Royals' starting lineup after missing a game and scored the first nine points for Warner.  The Royals led 9-6 with 13:26 to go in the first half.  As a team, the Royals shot 33.3% from the field in the first half while the Tigers countered with a 30.8% clip.

At the half, the Royals led the Tigers 25-17.  Hall led all scorers with 14 points and was 6-for-10 from the field.  The Tigers did dominate the boards however, outrebounding the Royals 24-15.

Things were cold for the Royals to start the second half as they went 0-for-5 from the floor until Hall drained a three-pointer at the 15:54 mark.  Despite facing a 10 point deficit minutes later, the Tigers hung around neither offense had much rhythm in the game.  With less than four minutes to go in the game, the Tigers tied things up at 37-37.

The Royals led by as many as five over the next two minutes but a 7-1 run over the final 1:56 of the game gave the Tigers a 45-44 edge.  Hall had a shot to win it for the Royals in the final seconds but it missed its mark.

The Royals made just five baskets in the second half (17.9%) and were 2-of-14 from behind the arc.  The rebound battle strongly favored the visitors by a 50-33 margin as well.

Hall led all players with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting in the game.  Eddie Delegal was perfect from the free throw line (6-for-6) and finished with 14 points overall and was a rebound away from a double-double with nine.

AJ Lamb had a career-high five blocks to go along with five rebounds and two points.  Antonio Ansley came off the bench to score eight points as well.

The Royals return to the hardwood on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. tipoff with Trinity Baptist College out of Jacksonville, Fla.
