CHICAGO, Ill. - On day one of their midwest trip, No. 7 Warner University men's volleyball team split a pair of matches with Saint Xavier University (Ill.) and No. 10 Robert Morris University (Ill.). The Royals' record now stands at 7-4 overall in 2015.
In their first match of the day against the Cougars of Saint Xavier, the Royals absolutely dominated in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-12) victory. The Royals registered at least 12 kills in every set and combined for a .457 hitting percentage as a team.
Steven Vaughn led the offense at the net with a game-high 12 kills and no errors for a .632 hitting clip.
Joshua Jordan followed with 11 kills and six digs.
Dylan Sechrest reached double-digit kills with 10 in the match and a .600 hitting percentage.
Martin Krueger paced the offense with 35 assists and one service ace.
Hui Ding led all players with 14 digs from the back row as well.
Devin Lofton totaled three block assists while Vaughn registered a solo and two block assists.
In their second match of the night, the Royals lost in four sets to No. 10 Robert Morris 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 20-25, 22-25).
Both Jordan and Vaughn finished with 13 kills each for the Royals. Jordan added 10 digs as well. Lofton had an impressive showing offensively with 10 kills and a.381 hitting percentage.
Krueger had three kills of his own to go along with 39 assists and two service aces. He also was second on the team with 11 digs.
Reggie Montalvo picked up 11 digs as well. Ding totaled 22 digs for a match high.
The Royals head over to Davenport, Iowa on Saturay and Sunday, Feb. 21-22, for a pair of matches at Saint Ambrose University (Iowa). The Royals take on Culver-Stockton University on Saturday then face No. 4 Saint Ambrose on Sunday.
