Women's Volleyball Winning Streak Reaches Five Matches


AVE MARIA, Fla. – In their first Sun Conference road trip of the season, Warner University women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 in league play with a pair of wins over Keiser University and Ave Maria University.  The Lady Royals have now won five matches in a row and are 8-4 overall.

Against Keiser, formerly Northwood University, on Friday night the Lady Royals were led by Breeanna Navarro and Angie Pagan-Perez who combined for 34 of Warner's 59 kills in the match.  Both players finished with a season-high 17 kills each.  Navarro, the reigning Sun Conference Attacker of the Week, led all players with a .419 hitting percentage. 

Adrienne Czaplewski was not far behind with 14 kills of her own and a .333 hitting percentage.

Jenna Swaffer and Rachel Stanton ran the offense for the Lady Royals.  Swaffer, the reigning Sun Conference Setter of the Week continued her strong play with 34 assists in the victory.  Stanton finished with 14 assists.

Thalia Mendez, this week's Sun Conference Defender of the Week, led the back row effort with 19 digs to lead all players.

On Saturday, the Lady Royals faced Ave Maria in a rematch of their first meeting from last Friday night, Sept. 18.  The Lady Royals swept the season series from the Gyrenes winning on Saturday 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-20).

The Lady Royals absolutely dominated the match against the Gyrenes hitting at least .324 in all three sets.  In the second set, the Lady Royals had their best performance of the weekend collecting 17 kills as a team with a .452 hitting percentage.

Individually, Pagan-Perez led all players with 16 kills.  She was also one of five players with at least two service aces.  Navarro posted her second straight game with a hitting percentage above .400.  She recorded 11 kills and two service aces.

Czaplewski finished the weekend with 12 kills and seven digs.  Swaffer added 38 assists to her weekend total and also had two service aces.

The Lady Royals return home next Thursday, Oct. 1, for a big conference showdown with Southeastern University in the Turner Athletic Center.  Match time is set for 7 p.m.
