No. 7 Royals Roll to 13th Win of the Season

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Four players scored in double figures as Warner University men's basketball team picked up their 13th win of the season and their fourth straight over a Sun Conference opponent as they defeated Florida Memorial University 69-57 on Tuesday night.  The No. 7 Royals never trailed in the game en route to their seventh victory in the last eight games.

Things could not have started any better for the Royals as they opened the game on an 11-0 run.  Antonio Ansley scored five points of his own before the Lions got on the scoreboard.  Overall it was a 16-1 run over the first five minutes of action to start the game by the Royals.

At the break, the Royals held a 35-30 lead after shooting 40.6% from the field including 4-of-8 from behind the arc.

The Lions hung around to start the second half and got to within two points of a tie game early on.  The Royals stay composed and stretched their lead to 12, 53-41, by the 10:44 mark forcing a Florida Memorial timeout.

Down the stretch the Lions got to within four points of the Royals but the balanced attack of Warner was too much for the home team.  The Royals' lead went back to double-digits in the final minute with four straight free throws by Ansley to end it 69-57 in favor of the Royals.

Warren Hall, the reigning Sun Conference Player of the Week, scored 23 points and had nine rebounds.  He also had four steals and five assists in the road win.  Josh Ellis scored 14 points and grabbed seven boards.

Eddie Delegal and Antonio Ansley finished with 12 points.  Delegal had seven rebounds and two steals.  Coming into the game, Delegal needed just six points to become the second player this season to reach 1,000 career points for the Royals.  He joins teammate Warren Hall who reached the milestone earlier this season.  The duo are the first teammates to reach 1,000 career points in the same season since Bryce Kachinski and Ian Wilhelm back in the 2012-13 season.

The Royals head back to Miami Gardens, Fla. on Thursday, Jan. 14, for a 7 p.m. showdown with St. Thomas University.
