Women's Basketball Falls In Season Opener

Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Warner Royals women's basketball opened up at home Monday night against the Edward Waters College Tigers. The Royals played at tough first quarter as they led 10-9 at the end. However, the Tigers would come back and outscore the Royals 12-2 in the second quarter to take a 21-12 lead into halftime. At the half, Charissa Broadway and Alana St. Clair led the Royals with 4 points each. 

The third quarter saw a pretty even match and a lot of scoring as the Royals came out hot and shooting well. However, the Tigers matched the Royals offense and both teams scored 19 points in the third. The Tigers kept their 9 point lead going into the fourth and the Royals looked to rally in the final period of play. Twice Warner cut the lead to six, but each time the Tigers hit three pointers at the other end to extend the lead back to nine. Edward Waters hit their free throws down the stretch to take the win over the Royals by the score of 60-44. The Royals fall to 0-1 on the season after the loss.

Warner was led by Alana St. Clair with 9 points and Charissa Broadway with 8 points. Cierra Wilson dropped in three assists and Kaley Schmick and I'munique Green both came away with two steals each. The Royals will travel up to Georgia this weekend to take on Reinhardt College on November 3 at 5:30 pm and Carver College November 4 at 6 pm.
