Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla.- The Warner volleyball team took on St. Thomas University Bobcats in the volleyball conference semi-finals on Friday afternoon. With a spot in the conference championship game on the line, both teams geared up for a battle. St. Thomas came out in the first set and used a six point run in the middle of the set to go ahead of Warner and would be able to fend off a late Royals run to win the set 25-21. Warner would come out in set two a different team and use a pair of five points runs in the set to win the set 25-19 and tie the match at one. Both teams knew the third set was going to be tough to win and also a virtual must win in a playoff setting. The set was very close and back and forth throughout. With Warner down 25-24 they would benefit from an attack error and an ace to go up 26-25 with set point, then again 27-26 for another chance at set point. However, the Bobcats would score three straight points and take the set from Warner 29-27 and take a 2-1 match advantage. The wind seemed to go from the Royals sails after the set three loss as St. Thomas would take full advantage of that and go on to win set four 25-20 and the match 3-1. With the loss the Royals are eliminated from the Sun Conference playoffs.
Adrienne Czaplewski led all players with 28 kills while Angie Pagan Perez would have 16 of her own. Kiara Rivera Escudero led the setters for Warner with 28 assists and
Raygen Lee would drop in 18 as well.
Thalia Mendez led all defenders with 17 digs on the day.
The Royals will host the NCCAA South Regional tournament begining on November 18.
