Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Royals women's basketball team played host to Johnson and Wales Wildcats Saturday afternoon in a Sun Conference match-up. The Royals looked to even up their conference record going into the game as they came out strong in the first quarter as they would hold a nine point lead with 3:18 remaining in the quarter. The Wildcats would cut into the lead but the Royals would hang on for a 16-15 lead after the first. The Royals would not be able to stop the momentum the Wildcats had at the end of the first quarter and they would find themselves down 21-29 at the half. The Royals shot 44% from the field in the first half but had ten turnovers in the half which led to their three point deficit at halftime. The Royals came out and tied the game at 44 apiece with 5:13 left in the third, but the Wildcats would go on a 9-0 run and then finish off the quarter with a 59-49 lead over the Royals. In the fourth quarter the Royals would make a bid for a comeback win as they went on an 11-0 run to pull within three points at 63-60, but the Wildcats would hit their free throws late in the game to secure a 66-63 win over the Royals. With the loss, the Royals dropped to 5-7 (1-3) on the season.
Warner was led by I'munique Green with 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds along with Charissa Broadway who had 11 points and 6 rebounds. The Royals will be back in action Wednesday, December 14 at 6 pm against Milligan in the TAC.Â
