Royals Fall To Cougars

Box Score LAKE WALES,Fla.-    The Royals baseball team fell to the visiting Colorado Christian Cougars Saturday in a rain soaked game, 7-5. The Royals bats were hot early as they scored one run in the first and two in the third to take a 3-0 lead. The Cougars would get one back in the fourth to cut the Royals lead to 3-1. Tyler Perkins got the start on the mound and looked to be cruising through the first five frames. However, in the sixth inning, a pair of walks ended Perkins day and eventually the Royals lead. The Cougars ended the inning with 3 runs and a 4-3 advantage.

The Royals would come back and score two in the bottom of the sixth inning to regain a 5-4 lead on the visiting team. However, an unearned run in the seventh and a pair of runs in the eighth proved to be too much for the Royals on that day. The Cougars came away with a win on the first game of a scheduled double header. Broderick Rodocker paced the Royals offensively going 2-4 with a double. The second game got through 4 innings of play before the umpires determined the field was unplayable and the game was washed out. The loss brought the Royals to 2-2 on the young season.
