Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Royals offense exploded once again Sunday afternoon in a 13-6 win over visiting Bluefield College. The Royals opened the scoring by getting a run in the first off a
Broderick Rodocker RBI ground out, but the big blow came in the second inning when the Royals were able to score 4 runs on back to back doubles by
Xanders Vazquez and
Randy Rodriguez. In the third inning,
Jose Fortuna led off with a big blast to left center to put the Royals up 6-0.
The offense would once again strike big in the fourth with five runs on six hits along with being aided by two Bluefield errors. The inning was highlighted by a Rodriguez triple and a Fortuna double. With the score 11-0 the Royals looked to be cruising to victory. However, Bluefield would score a run in the sixth inning then come away with five more in the seventh to make the score 11-6. The Royals would answer back in the bottom half of the seventh to score the final two runs of the game on a Rodriguez single and a
Jeff Stabe double to give the Royals the 13-6 edge.
Cole Roark had a quality outing going 5 innings, allowing only four hits, one walk, and nine strikeouts.
Blaine Rhea and
Trey Norris were able to close out the game for the Royals. Norris worked the ninth and came away with three strike outs in the inning. The Royals will travel to Jacksonville Friday and Saturday for a three game set against Edward Waters College. Game one is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
