Box Score MASON, Ohio- The Warner Royals baseball team received their second loss of the NCCAA World Series 4-3 to Trinity Christian. For the second consecutive game the Royals were given a pitching performance worthy of victory, however the Trinity Christian Trolls were equally impressive from the mound. The Trolls held the Royals scoreless through 8 innings and were able to score one run in the fifth and sixth innings and push across two runs in the seventh to go up 4-0.
Jimmy Diven came in relief in the eighth inning and threw 2 shutout innings in relief.
In the 9th inning the Royals started a comeback.
Junior Fermin led off with a single that was followed up by another single from
Broderick Rodocker.
Jose Fortuna then came up to the plate and sent the second pitch he saw over the left field wall to put the Royals within one run.
Tomas Rivera then singled to left field and
Tyler Dauphinee sacrifice bunted Rivera to second. After a
Taran Tipton walk and a pop out to the infield, the Trolls were able to get the final out with the tying run on second.
The Royals are now 1-2 in pool play and need a win tomorrow against Bethesda to have a shot at making it to the semi-finals. Game time is set for 1 pm.
