Royals Season Comes To An End At NCCAA World Series

Box Score MASON, Ohio- The Royals baseball team took the field one last time in 2016 versus Bethesda College as they were eliminated from semi-final contention Thursday night. The Royals jumped ahead early 4-0 behind a two run homerun from Gerson Sotolongo and a pair of solo homeruns from Tomas Rivera and Josh Viveros. However, Bethesda put together a 5 run seventh inning and was able to come away with a 5-4 victory over the Royals.

The Royals finish the 2016 campaign with a 31-30 overall record. Some accomplishments from the season were more than doubling the win total from the previous season, earning a conference tournament bid, winning the NCCAA South Region Tournament, and earning a chance to play in the NCCAA World Series. Along with the teams accomplishments, the Royals put three players on the Second Team All Conference and five players on the NCCAA All Region Team along with the NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year.
