Box Score 2 PARKVILLE, Mo.- The men's volleyball team finished up their final day at Park University going 1-1 and finishing the tournament 2-2. The first match of the day pitted the Royals against Ottawa University. Ottawa was able to take the first set from the Royals, but Warner came right back winning set two 25-22 to tie the match at one. The third set was very exciting as it was very back and forth the entire set. However, in the end, the Royals came away with a 25-23 victory and a commanding 2-1 lead in the match. Ottawa then came out and won set four 25-14 to tie it up and force a deciding game five. The Royals held a 11-10 lead but Ottawa scored 5 of the final 6 points to win the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.
Gillan Octave led the Royals with 18 kills,
Martin Krueger added 48 assists, and
Hui Ding led the Royals with 26 digs to round out the Warner leaders.
Next the Royals faced off with Morningside University to cap off the weekend. In set one the Mustangs gave the Royals all they had but Warner pulled out a 29-27 win to take the first set. The Royals then came out and dominated the second set to win 25-13 and go up 2-0 in the match. Warner opened up set three with a 10-4 run to take a commanding early lead. The Mustangs attempted a comeback but it would fall short and Warner would win the third set 25-20 and the match 3-0. The Royals were led by Jahn Lozada with 12 kills,
Martin Krueger with 35 assists, and
Hui Ding with 13 digs.
The Royals will next travel to Grand View on February 2 to compete in the Grand View Invitational.
