Royals Upset #15 Seahawks

Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Royals baseball team traveled down to Keiser University Tuesday afternoon to take on the #15 Seahawks in a non-conference game. The Royals jumped on the board first as they pushed a run across on a Josh Canabal single that plated Xanders Vazquez. The first big blow for the Royals came in the third inning. The scoring began when Canabal was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Vazquez, then Gerson Sotolongo came to bat and ripped a 3 RBI double to left center and clear the bases to give the Royals a 5-0 lead. Keiser would come right back in the bottom half of the third and score four runs of their own to pull within one of the Royals. The Seahawks would then score single runs in the 4th and 5th to take a one run, 6-5, lead on Warner. Then the Royals would strike again in the 6th inning. With the bases loaded, Broderick Rodocker laced a ball down the left field line that rolled all the way to the fence and would clear the bases for three more runs. Sotolongo would hit a single to center to score Rodocker later in the inning and Canabal would then later score on a wild pitch to end the scoring in the 6th for the Royals. With Warner up 10-6 on Keiser late in the game, the Seahawks would pull within two runs with a 2 run 6th inning to make the score 10-8. In the bottom of the 8th, the Seahawks would hit a three run homerun to take a 11-10 lead on the Royals headed to the ninth inning. In the final frame, Sotolongo would lead off with a single to center. He would then advance to third on an errant pick off throw to first. Tyler Dauphinee would then hit a hard ground ball to shortstop that was misplayed and Sotolongo would score the tying run. Dauphinee would advance to second on a wild pitch, then advance to third on a ground out to second base. With two outs and the go ahead run on third, Junior Fermin would hit a ground ball to third base and benefit from another Keiser error to push the go ahead run across. Rodocker came in to finish off the 8th inning and would then go back out in the ninth with the task of now closing out a win for the Royals. After a lead off single and stolen base, the next batter would walk and the runner on second would move to third on a wild pitch. Keiser had the tying run on third with nobody out and the winning run on first, but Rodocker got a huge strike out and on strike three, Dauphinee would gun down the runner at second to get two big outs on one play along with holding the runner at third. With no shortage of drama, Rodocker would walk the nex two batters to load the bases. Rodocker would then get the next batter to pop out to second base to walk away with a Warner 12-11 win. The Royals improve to 2-2 on the season with the victory and were led in the game by Sotolongo who finsihed 3-5 with a double and 4 RBI's and Rodocker that went 2-5 with a double and 3 RBI's. Rodocker would also get the win on the mound. Next up for Warner is a non-conference game at Webber International Friday February 3 at 6 pm.
