LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner University men's basketball competed in a Sun Conference match against Southeastern University, in an incredibly intense match. The two teams played impeccable defense and show cased their ability to make impressive plays in those very same tough defensive situations. Impressive stats come from both the Royals and Fire; for the Royals, Melton Sanders scored 27 points and had 8 rebounds, Khalil Ozuna put up a double double with 12 points and had 12 rebounds, Adam Giger scored 12 points, and Nick Macon scored 11 points with 2 rebounds. As for SEU, CJ Reese scored 26 points with 8 defensive rebounds, Ryan Atkins Scored 12 points, and Issac Barsh scored 12 points with 4 rebounds..
GAME RECAP
The 1st half of play saw the Royals leading the Fire 34-33. At this point in the game Melton Sanders scored 16-pts and 7 rebounds, Khalil Ozuna had 5 rebounds. The match was a constant battle as the lead changed 4 times within the first half, with only a 5 point differential being the greatest at any point in the half. The Royals shot 39% from the field and 86% from the free throw line.
The 2nd half continued identical to the first. The two teams did not give up the lead easily once they obtained it, and never let the other team stray to far ahead. In the second half, Melton Sanders scored 11 points and had 4 assists, Khalil Ozuna socred 10 points and had 7 rebounds, Adam Giger scored 7 points, and Nick Macon scored 8 points. The Royals Shot 50% from the field and 78% from the free throw line. The Royals however, were unable to secure the win and fell short to the Fire in the final moments with a score of Southeastern University 79 and Warner University 77.
