Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Warner Royals baseball team took on the Eckerd Tritons Tuesday night in St. Pete. The Royals were firing on all cylinders early on as they scored in each of the first five innings of play and got a quality start from
Nick Fernandez on the mound to come away with a 9-2 mid-week victory. In the first,
Broderick Rodocker scored on a throwing error after an infield single by
Josh Canabal, then again on a wild pitch that plated
Jesse Haney. The Royals got a lone run in the second after a
Jesse Alker double,
Ryan Klingler ground out, and
Tyler Dauphinee RBI ground out. In the third, the Royals would benefit another two runs on another Alker double, then add two more in the fourth on a 2 RBI single from
Taylor Briggs. Eckerd would get a run in the bottom of the fourth, however, the Royals would get two more in the fifth on a 2 RBI double from
Tyler Dauphinee. Eckerd would threaten in the seventh with bases loaded and two outs when a single to left would plate one run, but the Tritons attempt to score the runner at second were foiled when
Taylor Briggs gunned him down at home to end the inning. The Royals bullpen would close things out the rest of the game and the Royals walk away with a 9-2 win. The Royals improve to 4-6 on the season following the victory. Warner was led by
Jesse Alker who went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's and
Tyler Dauphinee who went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI's.
Nick Fernandez got the win going six innings, allowing one run, and striking out seven. Warner will host St. Andrews for a three game series at home beginning Thursday at 3 pm.
