Box Score DES MOINES, Iowa- The men's volleyball team opened up the Grand View Molten Invitational with a 3-2 loss to Hope International Thursday night. The Royals got off to a fast start as they won the first set 25-20 and jump up 1-0 in the match. Then the Royals would once again come away with another 25-20 set two win to take a commanding 2-0 lead on Hope in the match. The third set proved to be a poor one for the Royals as they only hit .160 in the set and would fall to Hope 25-22 but still looked to capitalize on the early set wins and win the match. In the fourth set, the Royals hit .407 but Hope hit .538 and would tie the match up at two sets apiece with a 25-23 set four win. The fifth and final set was very close and exciting, however, the Royals would lose the final set 15-13 and the match 3-2 to Hope. The Royals were led by Gillan Octave with 20 kills and Jahn Lazada with 18 kills. Martin Krueger had 46 assists and Hui Ding finished with 16 digs to lead the Royals. Warner is back to action Friday against Graceland and Culver Stockton in the Grand View Molten Invitational.
