Royals Big First Half Leads To Conference Win

Box Score MIAMI, Fla.- The Royals traveled to Miami to take on Johnson and Wales Wildcats in a Sun Conference matchup Thursday night. The Royals would ride a huge first half to a 74-65 road win. In the first quarter, the Royals and Wildcats went back and forth and played a very clean, even game but the Royals held a 20-17 lead heading into the second. The Royals then went on a 12-4 run to finish out the half and go into halftime leading 44-28 over the Wildcats. The third quarter was not kind to the Royals as they struggled to possess the ball and make shots. The Wildcats would finish the third quarter on a 13-4 run to come within one point of the Royals, 56-55, heading into the fourth quarter. The Royals would go back to their old selves in the fourth to pull away from the Wildcats and outscore them 18-11 to win comfortably 74-65. Warner was led by I'munique Green with 19 points, Kayla Guerrero with 14 points, and Kaley Schmick with 13 points. With the win, the Royals improve to 10-13 (4-7) on the season. Warner will travel down to Ave Maria on Saturday February 4 to take on the Gyrenes at 2 pm.
