Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Royals baseball team went into their game Tuesday against Cleary riding a five game losing streak. The Royals ended that losing streak with a 12-2 emphatic win.
Josh Canabal got the offense going in the bottom of the first with a 2 RBI single up the middle that scored
Taylor Briggs and
Broderick Rodocker. The Royals added one more run in the third on a RBI double by Rodocker. Cleary would get a run in the fourth to make the score 3-1. However, in the bottom half of the fourth, the Royals would have a huge inning. Warner would score seven runs on nine hits that included RBI's by
Chase Coon,
Tyler Dauphinee,
Jesse Haney, and
Gerson Sotolongo. Cleary would make the score 10-2 in the sixth with another single run, but in the bottom of the seventh the Royals would end the game via the mercy rule with a
Jesse Haney bases loaded walk and a sac fly by
Jesse Alker. The Royals finished the game with five doubles and fifteen hits. Josh Lewis started on the mound and earned his first college win, pitching five innings and allowing three hits and one run. Rodocker went 3-4 with a double and
Junior Fermin,
Jesse Haney,
Josh Canabal,
Gerson Sotolongo, and
Chase Coon all had two hits apiece. The Royals have a day off Wednesday before being back on the field Thursday at 3 pm against Cleary once again.
