Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Royals baseball team used a late rally to beat the Purdue- Northwest Pride 7-3 Wednesday afternoon. Early in the game, the Royals jumped out in from of the Pride 1-0 on a RBI double by
Tyler Dauphinee in the second inning. In the top of the third, the Pride would get two runs to briefly go ahead 2-1 on the Royals. However, Warner would come back in the bottom half of the third with two runs of their own.
Jesse Haney would get a sacrifice fly with runners on second and third that scored
Junior Fermin.
Josh Canabal would then come to the plate with two outs and hits a RBI single up the middle that would plate
Taylor Briggs to give the Royals a 3-2 lead. In the top of the sixth, the Pride would tack ona run to tie the contest up at runs runs. The Royals would then break the game open in the seventh.
Broderick Rodocker would get the scoring started with a RBI single to score Fermin. Haney would then triple to left field that would score Rodocker from first. Canabal would then come up and knock in another run with his second RBI single of the day to put the Royals up 6-3. In the eighth, the Royals would add another run on a RBI single by
Taylor Briggs to end the scoring for the Royals in the game. With a 7-3 lead in the ninth, Rodocker would come in and shut the door on the Pride to preserve the victory for Warner.
Ronnie Filipkowski would get the win for the Royals as he came in sixth and pitch 2.1 of no hit ball while striking out 2 batters. Canabal finished the game 3-4 with 2 RBI's while Dauphinee, Briggs, and Fermin would all have two hits apiece. The Royals are back to conference play this Friday at home against Southeastern University at 3:30 pm.
