Box Score 3 LAKE WALES, Fla.- Warner's baseball team took on the #23 ranked St. Thomas Bobcats this past weekend at
Jeff Sikes Field in a three game conference series. On Friday night, the Royals sent freshman
Joey Theune to the mound. Theune did a great job of keeping the Bobcats offense at bay, going 6 innings, allowing only 5 hits, and 0 earned runs. The Royals offense jumped ahead 6-2 on the Bobcats in a big 6 run sixth inning.
Josh Canabal got the inning going with a 3 run honerun while
Junior Fermin had a RBI single and
Taylor Briggs capped the scoring with a 2 RBI single. The Bobcats would tie the game at six in the ninth inning and add a run in the top of the 11th to go up 7-6. In the bottom of the 11th,
Broderick Rodocker would tie the game on a double to left that scored Fermin then Canabal would double to right center that would score Rodocker and win the game in walk off fashion for the Royals.
In game two of the series, the Royals offense could not get anything going as they would fall to the Bobcats 7-1. The Royals lone run came on a bases loaded walk by
Josh Canabal in the third inning. The Royals only managed three hits in the game.
In the final game of the series, the Royals and Bobcats would once again play into extra innings. The Royals would take a 3-1 lead when they would get a RBI single ny
Tyler Dauphinee in the second inning and then two runs in the fourth on Bobcat errors. St. Thomas would tie the game with single runs in the sixth and seventh and the game would go into the tenth tied at three. The Bobacts would get a run to go up 4-3 and force the Royals to come form behind once again. Warner would get runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out, but a strikeout and ground out would end the ally for the Royals. Warner would drop the series to St. Thomas on the weekend.
