Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Royals baseball team finished up their 2017 campaign with a conference series against Ave Maria Gyrenes this past weekend. The Royals fell to the Gyrenes in the first two games of the series, 11-6 and 6-2, but were able to finish off the weekend with a 5-4 win. The Gyrenes got a run in the first, but the Royals came back to tie it up in the bottom half of the first with a RBI groundout by
Jesse Haney. Warner would take the lead in the third on a sacrifice fly by
Josh Canabal then add on to their lead in the fourth on a solo homerun by
Gerson Sotolongo. Ave Maria would tie the game up at three in the fifth, but the Royals would take the lead right back in the bottom half on a RBI single by
Jordan Pike. The Gyrenes would tie the game up again in the sixth, however, the Royals would once again answer back with a RBI groundout by
Junior Fermin that would give the Royals a 5-4 lead. Senior
Jordan Pike would pitch 8 innings and would be relieved in the ninth by, senior,
Broderick Rodocker. Rodocker would get a pop out to shortstop and strike out the next two batters to seal the win for the Royals. The Royals would like to thank the 10 seniors,
