Royals Baseball Power Over #25 Webber For Season Opening Win

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Warner baseball 2018 is underway and the Royals used a strong 1st inning to overpower the #25 Warriors 2-1. Jesse Alker goes 3-4 with an RBI and a stolen bag. Cameron Cooper threw 4 solid innings receiving the first win off the mound the year with Anthony Torres notching a save.

The Royals traveled to Webber International to open up the 2018 season. This was the first game for both teams. Cole Parks got things started with a base hit to lead off the game. He then stole 2nd to get into scoring position for Junior Fermin. Fermin, powered through with an RBI single that scored Parks. Then Jesse Haney stepped in and rifled a double moving Fermin to 3rd. Jesse Alker found his first RBI of the season as he singled in Fermin and advanced Haney to 3rd. The Royals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead.

The Royals pitching then kicked in and stole the show as Jarrett Joyner held the Warriors to 1 hit in 2 innings of work while striking out 2. Cameron Cooper threw 4 innings and earned the win as he gave up no hits while striking out 4. Tristan Starling threw an inning and a third striking out 3 while only letting one get away from him as one of the Warriors NAIA baseball top player to watch Manny Rodriguez got a hold of one and sent it over the left field wall. Kody Smith came in and registered the hold before giving the ball to Anthony Torres who struck out 1 of the 2 batters he faced to give himself the Save and the Royals Victory.

The Royals start the season off hot taking game one of a two game series between the two rivals. They battle again but this time will take the field at home against the #25 Webber International Warriors at 12:00 p.m.
